Anyone who's ever had a heart
Wouldn't turn around and break it
And anyone who's ever played a part
Wouldn't turn around and hate it
Sweet Jane, sweet Jane
Sweet, sweet Jane

You're waiting for Jimmy down in the alley
Waiting there for him to come back home
Waiting down on the corner
And thinking of ways to get back home
Sweet Jane, sweet Jane
Sweet, sweet Jane

Anyone who's ever had a dream
Anyone who's ever played a part
Anyone who's ever been lonely
And anyone who's ever split apart
Sweet Jane, sweet Jane
Sweet, sweet Jane

Heavenly widened roses
Seem to whisper to me when you smile
Heavenly widened roses
Seem to whisper to me when you smile

Sweet Jane
Sweet, sweet Jane

I agree with "bandaid" that this song is depressing but its in a good way...it mellows you out, and you can listen to it whether you're in or out of love.

It's about innocent, pure, child-like love. Giddy. Good song. Very pretty.

I think Lou Reed preffered this version, which will tell you that the man knows 'good' when he hears it. And it's about drug addiction, tsllimit, sorry to burst your bubble.

Sometimes I think about why so many of these lyric debates center around addiction vs love. Is addiction a love?

Or is IT always about love. Drugs, addiction, murder, hate, or whatever, its always about love? Or love and seperation anyway?

Is love just what we do? Like pee, we do it in our undees or on a rose bush and it grows pretty, but we do it.

Anyway great pee, Lou and CJ.

    Song Fact

Great song, unfortunately the lyrics are wrong. Whoever submitted these lyrics copied and pasted Lou Reeds Live version. This is the old Velvet Underground version, which is at much slower pace. it goes like this

Anyone who ever had a heartWouldn't turn around and break itAnd anyone whose ever played a partWouldn't turn around and hate it

Sweet Jane, Sweet Jane, Oh sweet, sweet Jane

Waiting for Jimmy down in the alleyWaiting for him to come back homeWaiting down on the cornerThinking ways to get back home

Sweet Jane, Sweet Jane, Oh sweet, sweet Jane

Anyone whose ever had a dreamAnd anyone whose ever played a partAnyone whose ever been lonelyAnd anyone whose ever split apart

Sweet Jane, Sweet Jane, Oh sweet, sweet Jane

Heavenly wine and roses seem to whisper to meHeavenly wine and roses seem to whisper to meWhen you smile

Sweet Jane, Sweet , sweet Jane

i really love this song. the music is so soothing and the lyrics are great. this song was the love theme for natural born killers and even thought they were psychotic, i wept like a baby when they were reunited.

This is a Velvet Underground song ... not covered word for word but both are incredible songs.
