We have a nice sunny room with hardwood floors in the East Bay/North Bay in a good part of Vallejo. Available mid June or July 1st. Single occupancy. Month-to-month and short term is fine.

Rent is a reduced rent of $450/month + share of utilities for some weekly help with a combination of the following: house maintenance, various fix-it projects, house beautification, painting, yard upkeep/gardening, etc., and occasional help with the dogs. The time commitment: Total time per week = 3 hours per week.

Help with the dogs; When occasionally go out of town, would mean feeding the dogs, etc. This would be arranged in advance, and would count towards the weekly time.

You: responsible, kind, and genuinely likes animals, and must *love dogs*. We have a Golden Retriever and Chihuahuas. The 1st floor renter has two cats who stay on the 1st floor. Sorry, we cannot accommodate any more animals.

The room is on the 3rd floor, a bright and cheerful space, lots of light, and a walk-in closet. The room measures 220 sq. ft. The room can be unfurnished or furnished with any of the following: a bed frame with mattress, nightstand, and desk with chair.

We split the cost of the utilities per month divided by the number of household occupants. No credit check. Great personal/professional references are needed. Move-in is 1st month's rent, and deposit.

A vegetarian or vegan is preferred. Our family is vegetarian/vegan. The other housemates do eat fish & chicken in the house - which is fine - (but no 'red meat' in the house).

We have a very spacious, Turn-of-the-Century, 10 bedroom, 3-story Victorian Farmhouse with 4500 sq. ft., and plenty of room for everyone. We also have a large park-like yard with garden and trees and outside front and back patios to have your tea/coffee.

Near to the waterfront, shopping, & twice-weekly Farmer's market (Wednesday & Saturday), art galleries, cafes, and restaurants. There's a bus right by the house that goes Downtown, & to the Waterfront. There's both the commuter Ferry & the transbay bus that runs multiple times daily to San Francisco, 7 days a week. The Ferry has two levels with indoor/outdoor seating & a cafe inside. The transbay bus is not a regular city bus but a luxury coach bus with comfortable seats and ample room. There's a parking lot at the waterfront where you catch the Ferry or transbay bus, & a very nice coffee shop to get your coffee before catching the Ferry or bus.

The wonderful town of Benicia is a 5-minute+ car ride, and they also have a terrific farmer's market twice a week (Thursday & Sunday), and lots of evening and weekend events going on, and many great restaurants, nightlife.

We have two options to get to BART. The first is to go to El Cerrito, a 15 min. drive. There's a bus, the # 80, at the downtown Vallejo bus mall that goes to the El Cerrito BART station. The second option is Pleasant Hill BART, a 20 min drive. The # 78 bus at the downtown Vallejo bus mall goes to the Pleasant Hill BART station (next to Walnut Creek). Additionally, a casual carpool in town runs to San Francisco.

We are very centrally located: 15 mins. to Martinez, 20 mins to Concord/Pleasant Hill, 25 mins. to Walnut Creek, 15 mins. to Fairfield, 25 mins. to Pittsburg/Bay Point, 20 mins. to Napa, 20/25 mins. to Berkeley/Oakland, 30 mins to Novato, 35 mins. to San Rafael, 40 mins. to San Francisco.

Our family consists of a woman early 50s, an educator/researcher, and her retired father (mid 80s). We have our private family kitchen on the 2nd floor.

Upstairs we have a man, early 60's, a wine merchant, and a man mid 20's a medical clerk. Downstairs on the 1st floor, we have a man, late 20's, a stage hand/camp counselor. You would share the 1st-floor kitchen with them; All nice folks. The 1st-floor kitchen has two fridges. We have a washer & dryer.

We are a non-smoking/non-vaping/drug-free household, which includes no smoking marijuana. Now that marijuana is legal, edibles would be fine. Alcohol's fine.

If interested, please send a detailed email telling us about yourself, your current housing situation, what you are looking for in housing, and your interest in the rent reduction.
