NBA Cribs: A Full-Court Press on the Homes of the 2024 Boston Celtics (2024)

They’re back and possibly better than ever.

When the Boston Celtics made an appearance in the NBA Finals in 2022, they were dispatched in six games by Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. They took a step back in the 2022–23 season after changing their coach amid workplace drama and lost to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals.

But this year, the Celtics truly hit their stride. They won 64 games, nabbed the top seed in the conference, and coasted through the first three playoff rounds with little resistance. Now the team is on the verge of satiating a title-starved Celtics nation.

Most importantly, from our perspective, the Celtics have built upon a solid foundation. The one-two punch of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown is the same as 2022, but they’ve improved the rest of the roster surrounding their two stars.

And those two stars have remained rock-solid—and remained in place. When we profiled the real estate of the Celtics two seasons ago, we found the luxe Massachusetts homes of both stars. Neither has seen fit to upgrade or add to their holdings, a fact that could change this off-season.

So while we won’t spend time rehashing the marvelous mansions of Tatum and Brown, we did find plenty of other Celtics stars making serious real estate plays. Let’s have a look.

Coach Joe Mazzulla

Elevated into the head coach role just before the tipoff of the 2022-23 season, Mazzulla had spent three years with the Celtics as an assistant coach. Only 35, he’s the youngest head coach to reach the finals since player-coach Bill Russell led the Celtics to a finals win in 1969.

Due to his quick elevation to head coach status in 2022, Mazzulla probably didn’t have time to shop for a permanent home in the Boston area until last off-season. Even so, with the capricious life of any NBA head coach, it’s probably better to remain a renter. Which is exactly the play the coach has drawn up.

From what we’ve gathered, Mazzulla is leasing a rather modest three-bedroom townhome in Newton, MA. Offered for lease at around $3,500 a month, the three-bedroom residence is nice enough but not exactly what we’re used to seeing for an NBA head coach.

Perhaps this off-season—and a potential NBA title—will afford Mazzulla some time and cash to truly settle down in Beantown.

Jrue Holiday

Acquired via trade just prior to the season, Holiday has what the other Celtics are after: A championship ring. The tenacious defender won a title with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.

Due to his late arrival in Boston, it’s likely he is holed up at a luxury rental in the area until the off-season.

We do know that Holiday will be spending some time in Southern California once the season is over. The L.A. native purchased a six-bedroom home in the sleepy suburb of Chatsworth for $975,000 in 2015.

Located in a cul-de-sac, the two-story residence comes with a backyard that was marketed as an “entertainer’s dream.” It also features two primary suites on the second floor, which means the savvy guard had options.

And after signing a four-year, $135 million contract extension with the Celtics in April, Holiday might be tempted to go house shopping in Massachusetts this summer.

Or having been traded three times over the course of his 14-year career, maybe he’ll opt to remain a renter in the Boston area.

Luke Kornet

Kornet was a fringe roster player in 2022, and the center played a total of six minutes in the entire six-game series against the Warriors. Two years later, the 7-footer has earned more meaningful minutes in the playoffs and was a key member of the regular season rotation.

He also put down roots in Massachusetts last summer. Kornet splurged on a $2.8 million, six-bedroom home in Lexington, MA, in August 2023.

Highlights of the 6,150-square-foot, modern farmhouse-style residence include a large primary suite with spa bath and custom closets. There’s a playroom, gym, and wet bar on the home’s lower level—an ideal spot for entertaining a crowd. Inside, the home features hardwood floors, built-in shelving, and coffered ceilings.

Peyton Pritchard

Fourth-year pro Pritchard has steadily improved his game each season and played in all 82 regular season games for the Celts. The point guard was with the Celtics for their 2022 loss to the Warriors but hopes to win a ring this time around.

A native of Oregon, he starred in college at the University of Oregon. But when the season is done, he won’t be headed back to the Pacific Northwest. In April 2023, Pritchard purchased a $1 million, three-bedroom home in the town of Punta Gorda, FL. Just north of Fort Myers on the state’s Gulf side, the home is just a couple of minutes away from Babco*ck National Golf Club.

Pritchard’s home had been on the market for $1.3 million, so he secured a deal on the place with “resort style amenities.” Highlights include a saltwater pool in the backyard, a 15-foot island in the kitchen, and an outdoor kitchen that’s perfect for parties.

Kristaps Porzingis

The injured big man has also played for the Dallas Mavericks—the Celtics’ foes in the finals. Following a splashy debut with the New York Knicks at the tender age of 20 back in 2015, the Latvian 7-footer has bounced around the league a bit. Now 28, he was a key cog in the Celtics regular season success but has been limited in the playoffs due to injury.

When he was with the Knicks, Porzingis rented an $8,000-a-month penthouse in Midtown Manhattan at the building known as Sky.

We’re not exactly sure where he rents in Boston, but it’s likely a building close to the TD Garden in downtown. It’s been reported that Jaylen Brown also has a unit in the same building as the big man, so they do cross paths even when they’re not on the court.

Derrick White

Now the Celtics starting shooting guard, White has come a long way from being an unheralded prospect who spent three years in college at a Division II school.

With just one year left on his contract after the finals are over, White could be headed for a big payday this summer if he coaxes a contract extension out of the Celtics. He’s professed his love for the city and wants to stay put. For evidence, look no further than the $3.8 million home in Lexington, MA, that he purchased in April 2022.

Built in 2021, the seven-bedroom residence features nearly 6,700 square feet. Highlights include a master suite with a deck overlooking the backyard, a heated garage, and and nearly an acre of green space.

Al Horford

The veteran big man is closing in on his first championship in his 17th season in the NBA. He’s also looking to part ways with his Boston-area mansion.

Horford hoisted the six-bedroom home in Brookline, MA, onto the market in early March. Initially listed for $9 million, the abode’s price tag has since been chopped by $500,000 to entice a buyer to step off the sideline. Horford bought the place for $7.5 million in 2021, so he still stands to net a slight profit.

Highlights of the luxe home include custom glass doors, a two-story foyer with a grand staircase, glass railings, and soaring ceilings. Does this potential sale mean the finals are Horford’s last hurrah in Boston? He’s signed through 2025, but a new ring on his finger might prompt him to leave on top.
