Chapter Text
Izuku stares at his phone long and hard.
He had already seen the message so Kirin knew he had read it. He can't leave it on read for too long. But what will he reply? He doesn't want to go but this is Kacchan's fiancée. What could she possibly want with him anyway?
He worries so much that he starts to nibble on his lips.
“Say no.”
Izuku's soul nearly jumped out of his body when Ochako suddenly talked behind him. He felt his pounding heart over his hand.
“Oh my gosh, Ochako you scared the bejeezus out of me.”
“Don't go, Izuku.” She warns him with a fried chicken leg pointed at him like it was a knife.
“I've seen those Kdramas where the fiancee bullies the best friend so they would stay out of the relationship!” She took a bite off the chicken then pointed it back at him.
“Say no.” She threatened this time.
Izuku rolls his eyes at his friend.
“You watch way too much Kdramas, Ochako-chan. Kirin isn't like that and why would she do that anyway. I'm just Kacchan's friend.” He defended the fiancee of the love of his life, like an idiot he is.
“Because that pomcupine glues you to his hips as much as he can.” She mutters.
“What was that Ochako-chan?” He asked when he didn't hear her well.
Ochako just bit off her chicken until it was bone and pouted as she chewed. She is one of the very few who knows about his feelings for Kacchan. The others being Shouto-kun and Touya. He accidentally blurted it out after he got drunk at Shouto-kun’s house while they were supposed to make their thesis back in college.
“Why did you run away?” The said person questions him. Izuku fully knows what he means by that question.
“Is it cowardly?” Izuku sighs then smiles bitterly while waiting for his answer.
“I don't really know. I've never felt like that before.” Touya admits to him that he himself had never felt one sided love.
Izuku envies him. He wishes he never had experienced this too. He shrugged and sat down on the nearest sofa seat.
“I know these feelings will never come to anything. So I decided to leave with the best memories I have of him and of the two of us. If I stayed then I would have seen them together. That would have been what I'd remember and I can't handle that. So I ran. I ran away to live a life just of good memories. Then maybe one day those memories will fade and I can finally accept making new ones of him being with someone else.” He confessed the reason why he ran away from Kacchan before, though that failed miserably as the person he tried hard to get away from went looking for him instead.
So he thought maybe he can be a good friend at the very least while he can.
“Will it not hurt anymore?” Asked Touya.
“It still does and it still will but by then I'd be used to it.” Replied Izuku and he then replied to Kirin.
[Sure. Just tell me when and where.]
Izuku doesn't know how far he can go on with this.

Izuku stands right before a pretty coffee shop. It stands alone on a hilltop with a beautiful view of the city below. The theme is likely nature with all the plants surrounding the building and the motive of the colors being beige and greens. All in all it gives an aura of comfort which is something Izuku feels absolutely nothing inside of him.
He walks in because he is possibly a masoch*st that likes getting hurt by seeing the fiancee of his long time love.
“Deku!”
He did not expect though for said love to be here along with the fiance.
“Kacchan?” Izuku sees Katsuki on a table full of pastries and coffee already served beside him is Kirin wearing a very cute white dress. The diamond rings on her hand shines and sparkles where she sat by the window near the sun.
Izuku is so confused because he thought he only agreed to Kirin but of course they would go as a couple.
He walks over to them and sits across the table.
“I'm so sorry, Izuku but you Katsuki wouldn't shut up when he found out we were going to meet. So he invited himself over.” Kirin apologizes to him with a sorry smile.
“Well f*ck are you two meeting up for without me anyway?” Kacchan scolded and Kirin rolled her eyes. As always they seem to close.
“It's ok. I was just surprised. So what did you invite me over for?” Izuku asked. The sooner it's done, the sooner he can leave. He didn't want to see them together.
“Well, so I was wondering as Katsuki's best friend if you can help us choose the cakes and pastries we will be serving at our wedding.” Kirin was giddy as she presented all the mini cakes and desserts on the table.
Izuku freezes with a forced smile. So that's why there were so many deserts. Once again he was put in a spot where he had to help with their wedding. He should have listened to Ochako!
“Sure. Sounds fun.” Yet he still agreed because Izuku is an idiot.
“Thanks, Deku.” Kacchan thanked him and for a moment he felt slightly happy but it was short lived when he saw Kacchan hold Kirin's hand.
“Thanks, Kirin for letting him be part of this.”
And so his hell has started. He really should have listened to Ochako.
//How long am I going to be like this? I feel like I'm drowning. I can’t breathe. I'm suffering and suffocating. I want to leave but I have to help them. I hate this.//
Izuku really is an idiot.
After a few cakes later, which he can't remember how they tasted at all, Kacchan stood up when his phone rang.
“I need to take this.” He walks outside the coffeeshop as he answers the phone.
“Izuku. Thank you.” Kirin says when Kacchan was out.
“Katsuki really wants you to be part of the wedding and I'm really hoping you can. You are important to him.” She says and it made Izuku feel worse. This woman is really kind.
“You see, this marriage will be very important.” There was a sudden shift in the air around them. It was very slight that those outside their table wouldn't be able to notice it but for Izuku who just sat across from her, he felt it.
“Katsuki has a very happy and fulfilling family doesn't he? His mom and his dad and him, their son.” She places her hand, where the diamond ring is on her finger, on the table.
“I'm sure you know that it's his dream to have a family just like that.” Kirin tells him with a big smile on her lips.
And Izuku realized what she meant and what she wanted to get across. Izuku is an idiot in love but he isn't stupid.
Just then Kacchan comes back.
“Seriously, the office can't survive just one day without my opinion.” He grumbles and Kirin pat's his arm.
“It just means they trust you.” She says to him at which Katsuki just clicks his tongue.
They look good together. They would make great parents. They would have such lovely kids.
Izuku seeing them like this made him realize he could never give Kacchan what he dreams of.
Kirin had warned him, he has no place within their lives. He really should have listened to Ochako.
Izuku drank his coffee and took a big slice of cake to eat. Dark chocolate, bitter just like him.
Eventually the dessert tasting finally ended. Izuku drowned his feelings in cake. They waited at the front of the cafe for Izuku's taxi while making small talk.
“Deku, I'll send you the wedding date. You have to go, ok?”
“Yes, Kacchan. I already said I will.” Izuku humors him. He will definitely go because that will be the last time he will see Kacchan.
Izuku decided after what Kirin warned him off that he will keep his distance.
“Bring with you a plus one, Izuku.” Kirin teases.
“Why should he?” Which Kacchan reacted strongly.
“He’d be with our friends. Besides, it's not like there is someone he likes that could be his plus one anyway.” Kacchan tells Kirin as a matter of factly like he was sure it was set in stone.
“There is.”
Katsuki snaps his head so fast towards Izuku that it almost makes a sound.
“But he likes someone else.”
The taxi arrived just then. Izuku opens the car door and steps inside.
“Thank you for having me. Please send a message for the wedding date. Bye.” And off the taxi go.
“Oh my. Did you hear that, Katsuki?” Kirin talked once the taxi was far from view.
“Izuku likes someone and he said ‘he’. It's a man!” She exclaims in shock.
Katsuki was even more shocked. He gapes at the leaving taxi where Deku is in.
“Yeah. I'm just as surprised.”
Their own taxi arrived. Kirin went directly to the hotel while Katsuki had to go to the office. There after numerous paper works, Katsuki sat on his office chair by his table.
///“There is.”///
He rubs his temples.
///“But he likes someone else.”///
Then takes through his hair.
Deku likes someone? And it's a guy? Deku likes guys? But who?
“He never told me.”
Katsuki's leans back on his chair, sighs hard and pulls out his phone.
[Hay candycane bastard, does your brother have a girlfriend or boyfriend?]
Does Deku like Touya? He did say he thought the guy was handsome back then. So is it Touya? If Touya is in a relationship, then it might be him as Deku said the person he likes already likes someone else.
Katsuki starts to bite his thumbs nail as he waits for Shouto's reply.
“He never told me.”
The stinging in his insides crawls to his chest and starts to stab him.
